The editorial verdict

The ownership case.

C2 Vision is a credible experiment in more selective pool cleaning, but its camera advantage remains a testable proposition rather than a result established here.

Reasons to consider it

  • Camera-assisted targeting
  • Ordinary coverage modes remain available
  • Dual-layer filtration

Go in knowing

01 / THE DETAILS

The camera is the question, not the verdict

The C2 Vision adds a camera-assisted cleaning proposition to WYBOT's cordless floor, wall and waterline platform. The current page lists eight cleaning modes, several path options, dual-layer filtration and a low-battery return toward the pool edge. It also presents a striking efficiency claim for its vision mode. We would not treat that claim as a measured real-world advantage over every competing robot. The useful question is whether visual targeting helps this machine collect the debris that your pool actually receives. A camera can create a plausible route to more selective cleaning, but it also makes lighting, water clarity and debris appearance part of the evaluation. This article is a research assessment and contains no independent vision-performance measurement.

02 / THE DETAILS

What targeted cleaning should improve

A conventional coverage route spends time on both dirty and clean areas. If a vision system recognises a cluster of debris and directs the robot toward it, it may reduce wasted travel. That would be particularly useful when a mostly clean pool develops a few local deposits. It may matter less when fine dust is spread uniformly across the entire floor. We would test both conditions, because the strongest demonstration for targeted cleaning is not necessarily the most common household task. The camera also needs to distinguish useful targets from patterns in a liner or shadows. Evidence should connect recognition to additional debris removed, not merely to a robot appearing to change direction near an object.

03 / THE DETAILS

Clarity and lighting are operating variables

WYBOT's FAQ notes that very dirty water can affect performance. That is especially relevant to a vision-led mode, because suspended material can obscure the scene the camera is intended to interpret. Sunlight patterns, pool lights, dark finishes and reflective tiles may also change the conditions. An owner trial should include different times of day and the normal water clarity of the pool. It should not depend on an unusually clear demonstration basin. Keep the lens or sensing surface clean using the approved procedure, and avoid treating it like a window that can be polished with any household product. The optical system's usefulness depends on both software and the physical condition through which it observes the pool.

04 / THE DETAILS

Modes provide a fallback and a choice

The C2 Vision's menu includes ordinary coverage modes as well as a vision mode. That is valuable because not every cleanup needs the same strategy. A broad floor run may be appropriate after widespread dust deposition, while a targeted approach may suit a few visible leaves. The owner should understand those distinctions rather than repeatedly selecting the mode with the most advanced-sounding name. Confirm how settings are transmitted and when the robot must be out of the water. Scheduling should also be evaluated against battery and filter capacity. A stored programme cannot empty a basket or restore a depleted battery, so the maintenance interval remains part of the automation plan.

05 / THE DETAILS

Filtration can limit the benefit of intelligence

A robot that reaches the right place still needs to retain the material it collects. The C2 Vision's coarse and fine filter layers should therefore receive as much attention as its camera. Inspect what remains on the floor, what is trapped in the filter and what is released during retrieval. Fine debris can load a medium without filling the basket's visible volume. Follow the cleaning instructions and check replacement availability before purchase. The manufacturer's own FAQ separates debris cleaning from water-quality management, a sensible boundary to retain. An app or camera does not make the machine a substitute for the pool's filtration and treatment routine, and clearer-looking water is not proof that all aspects of pool care have been handled.

06 / THE DETAILS

Parking at an edge is not surface retrieval

The source describes the machine moving toward a wall when the battery is low and includes a retrieval hook. That is different from automatically rising and waiting with its handle above water. Buyers who find hook retrieval difficult should resolve this distinction before choosing the Vision over a robot with another retrieval system. Test the hook from your actual coping and check the drainage process with a realistic basket load. Also consider how easily the machine can be located in deeper or darker water. The most advanced navigation feature is of limited comfort if the final physical task is uncomfortable. Total owner effort includes retrieval, rinsing, carrying and charging as well as the autonomous part of the cycle.

Connected features and image handling

The presence of a camera raises a reasonable data question: what is processed on the robot, what reaches the app and what is retained by the service? We did not establish those details through a security audit and do not assume that every camera system follows the same architecture. Read the current privacy information and request clarification if image handling is important to you. Check account transfer and essential offline operation before buying used. Firmware updates may change behaviour, so record the version when comparing runs or contacting support. A useful support report includes the selected mode, pool conditions and a description of the failure, rather than a general statement that the robot's intelligence seems poor.

The upgrade over the ordinary C2

The ordinary C2 already offers multiple paths and dual-layer filtration. The Vision premium is most defensible when targeted debris detection demonstrably reduces cleaning time or missed material in your pool. It is harder to justify if most dirt is uniformly distributed or if visibility is frequently poor. Other alternatives may address a different bottleneck more effectively: easier retrieval, a larger basket, corded repeat operation or separate surface skimming. List the one or two shortcomings in your present routine and ask which design directly improves them. That makes the comparison more useful than counting cameras and sensors. The Vision can be the right choice without needing to be the universal choice for every pool shape and owner.

09 / THE DETAILS

The assessment we can stand behind

C2 Vision is a credible experiment in more selective pool cleaning, but its camera advantage remains a testable proposition rather than a result established here. We would want repeat runs over scattered leaves, uniform fine debris and a patterned surface, with time, pickup and interventions recorded separately. We would also test a dirty filter, normal pump currents and end-of-cycle retrieval. Those observations would show whether the intelligence translates into less work. For now, shortlist it when visual targeting addresses a real problem and the maintenance routine is acceptable. Buyers mainly seeking dependable broad coverage should compare the ordinary C2 and alternatives on practical operation before paying specifically for the camera.
